This morning I read an excellent posting at 1st Turning Point (www.1stturningpoint.com) about working harder. It was just the boost I needed. It's very exciting to have your publisher release a new book you wrote, but then after you've popped the champagne and reality sets in, there's the endless task of promoting and marketing. Yes,I am determined to work harder at promoting my books. I've jumped head first into the social networking scene and I try to post almost daily. I have business cards that come flying out of my wallet the minute I start talking about the book.
I set up my first contest to try to generate traffic to my web site. After a few days, there are only a handful of entries, and it's a bit discouraging. There's really nothing to do to enter except send an email. After you are done reading this blog, please go to www.jameshoch.com and enter. It's not a pretty sight to see a nearly 60 year old, short man come to tears.
So I am not a NY Times best selling author (yet!), but I'm trying to get my name out and entice people to give me a chance. If anyone has other ideas about marketing and promoting oneself...please let me know. I am open to all advice. Thanks
