I love water, adore it and I love nothing more than having a long luxurious bath.... IN PEACE! The kids and my partner were watching a movie so I seized the opportunity to grab a book I had been wanting to read and ran a lovely deep bath to immerse myself in. Silence reigned. Relaxed into the bath and started to read.
You know what it sounds like when you talk in your head... you follow along the story and completely immerse yourself into the story. The book I was reading was about reincarnation, but at a fictional level and the girl was starting to have "turns" or memories about one of the lives that she had before, all around meeting this man for the first time.
"I don't know why I am seeing these things, it comes in flashes and starts but I know that it is all centred around Ewan" she sighed. She was giving herself a headache trying to put all the pieces of the flashes together in her mind's eye. Cory looked at her sympathetically, "I am sure it will come together, give it time and he squeezed her hand gently. "MUM!"
I just about jump out of my skin. A quiet voice goes "Awww" and I look up startled. Sitting on the toilet seat right beside the bath is a 17 year girl with long curling hair, she is leaning forward and watching me attentively. Before I can say another word, the bathroom door swings open, the dogs barge in and No.2 son says "Do you want a cup of tea".
I blink rapidly as the dogs decide it's a marvellous time to have a drink out of the bath :/ My new friend has disappeared but peals of laughter echo telling me she has not gone very far away. I look at the dogs, at No.2 son and sigh. "No thank you honey, very kind but I will just enjoy my bath and a book". "Okay" he says and goes to swing the door shut again. "Umm Honey?" "Yup?" "Could you please take the dogs before Bear decides to climb IN the bath with me". He laughs and herds the dogs back out the bathroom.
I look at the ceiling and sigh. I look around. No sign of my new friend. I scan the book to get back to where I was up to and find my place. But now I am kinda hesitant to get back into the book. I search out in my mind to find my new friend. She comes forward immediately which tells me she has just been waiting to see what I would do. She appears again perched on the toilet seat. Long legs encased in jeans and a white top, she casually flicks one side of her hair over a shoulder and leans forward on a hand to look at me seriously.
"Want to hear some more?" I ask kindly. Her face lights up "Really?" I laugh, "I didn't know that you guys come and listen to stories". She laughs out loud. "Well you know we can hear all your thoughts and when you read sometimes it just draws our attention and we get to listen as well. The thing with YOU is that you notice". My turn to laugh and the bath water slops dangerously. She tilts her head "You don't mind then?" I laugh, "No, as long as it's not 50 of you squeezed into my small bathroom and making me feel like I'm in a goldfish bowl, no problem".
I never get rattled by Spirit popping in at times, they are not in physical bodies, there is no mortification, no judgement, no anything just them wanting to connect. It seems at times weird for me to be worried about Spirit people popping in to say hello, that is our own insecurities that makes us feel odd, not them.
She settles again on the seat and I find my place in the book. ... Trisha didn't know what she would do without Cory's support. Having sudden found Ewan and recognised him in this life time, the memories seemed to be pouring from hidden recesses of her mind, making her more and more confused about how she felt about him. Was it in this life she was meant to be with him? or was it simply remembering him from the past?...
I look at new friend on the toilet seat and smile. "Are you enjoying it?" She laughs "Yes!" I look at her over the top of the book. "You know I cannot finish the whole book tonight, I will simply look like a prune!" She laughs again. "It's no worries, I will just come back when you are reading it again". That makes me laugh and water again slops dangerously close to the rim. I continue and read another two chapters before I put the book down.
"What do you like about me reading? I mean I am only reading in my head not out loud or anything". She shrugs "I like listening to it, it's more interesting than listening to peoples' thoughts, they are erratic and all over the place. With you also, you build the story in your mind so I get to see the whole story unfold as you read" She shrugs again. "That's kinda cool".
I laugh and put the book down. "I have to get out of the bath" She uncoils from her perch and stretches, "that's okay" she says and winks and disappears. I look startled for a moment and then laugh. How cool! An eavesdropping Spirit person coming to listen to a story while I'm reading in the bath? Only in my world!
Spirit has this wonderful ability to listen to our thoughts, track what we are thinking doing and reacting. It doesn't matter if you are in the bath or even doing normal things, when you think you are loud, it's that simple. If you have a loved one in Spirit understand that they clearly hear your thoughts as you direct your thoughts to them as well, that's a wonderful thing to know! Hmmm and next time you reading a book? Take a moment to think just who might be listening!
