In the wee small hours I watched a movie. In fact, in the wee small hours, spirit and I watched a movie. It had some of my favourite actors in it. Robert Redford, Jennifer Lopez and Morgan Freeman. It was called an "Unfinished Life". A movie about perception, perspective and balance. All of the things that spirit have been talking to me about lately.
The movie had a happy ending, and for once I was pleased. We get so hung up on how difficult our lives can be that we forget to look for the happy ending. Okay in some situations, there is none, it's how we learn and grow. However, to not look to the happy ending? What a sad world we have become if we can no longer look for the positives in life and truly believe in our hearts in happiness.
At the end of the day, we also hold so much resentment, lack of understanding, lack of clarity in our hearts. We have the most amazing capability of forgiveness in these wonderful hearts we have but we are miserly and we do not realise that we choose to hold on to these things. The one thing, the most important thing we also do is forget to forgive ourselves. It is not about justifying what we chose to hold on to, the losses, the hurts, the resentments. I hear people everyday, they say, but I cannot forgive what happened in that situation. Why not? Do you not realise that by holding on to that, you cannot forgive you? It is truly your heart that will be hurt and hurting. Stand back a bit, see the learning, see your growth.
We get endlessly sick of feeling like, it's two steps forward and one backward. Well? Who do you think is doing that? It is not anyone else holding onto these things but yourself. You need to hold in your heart, hope for new beginnings, love for those yet to come into your life, forgiveness of others but most of all forgiveness of self. Once the past has happened, it cannot be changed, the course has usually been set. To hold yourself in the past serves your heart no good. It just festers, and if you believe it was something that YOU did, then you just carry that burden further forward. Here is all about the lessons, the learning and the understanding.
In order to have some understanding of yourself, you need to invest into you and your heart. You are no worse than any other human being. John Demartini, said it and said it well. "No matter what you have or haven't done, all are worthy of love". Start with yourself, as you see yourself as a person worthy of being loved, then so shall the situations around you change. You see yourself as a person who is valuable, deserving and worthy. Look to your heart for this. If you shut down your heart, you shut down you. Look within before looking without. Be true to your heart.
