Igor G. Kozak (Ihar Kazak in Belarusian) is an author, translator and conference interpreter. In his past life he worked in Geneva on the Nuclear Disarmament Talks and other shenanigans.Igor’s biography is rather eclectic. Born in Eastern Europe, lived in Western Germany, East Africa, and West Switzerland, he is now in the Central Floridian jungle (now that is downsizing!). He has written on religions and rebellions in Africa (not exhausted subjects by any means), a bilingual (what else?) autobiography of his years as an American interpreter on subjects of the environment and nuclear disarmament. His most recently published books are Interpreter, Translate! The Tragic Comedy of An Interpreter and a co-authored translation from the Belarusian of Vasil Bykau’s Parables. An indefatigable world traveler with a cosmopolitan view, Igor is now waning towards the humorous and poetic. To wit: he has translated and compiled “scores and scores” of Arkady Averchenko’s humor and satire. This rare anthology is ready for the publisher. As to the poetic side, he has translated one hundred poems of his father, the late Belarusian poet, Ryhor Krushyna (pen name of Ryhor Kazak), in honor of the Centennial of the poet. This anthology of poems is currently with a publishing house in the U.S. under consideration. The original Centennial Edition was published in Minsk, Belarus, in December of 2007.His current interests in poetry include such poets as Koboyasi Issa and Masaoka Siki; but he abhors the modern mélange of words that passes off as poetry in the Anglo-Saxon world…He also dabbles in social and political commentary on the Internet. “Politics and our current sad state of affairs in the world,” quips the author, “is what prompted me to consider humor and poetry as a decamp from the harsh reality into a more gentle, invigorating, and relaxing—indeed an elixir for the soul—type of literary genre…”He is, to be sure, approaching this desired goal.Igor Gregory Kozak has published in Fiction International, International Short Story, New Review of Literature, and numerous other publications here and abroad. His collection of short stories, Abdullah the Terrorist & Other Tales by Igor, is currently in search of a publisher.
