About Me

  • The common factor in Red Room Editor Huntington Sharp’s work in the varied fields of managed health care, commercial real estate, government law, cabaret, contemporary lighting, and editing is a truly dogged commitment to le mot juste. After studying linguistics and English at the University of California, Santa Barbara, he moved on to law at New College of California, where he edited for and published a commentary in the school's Law Review. It's hard to believe that this Eagle Scout and founding member of the Red Room Writers Society is twenty-nine.

  • Meow Woof Purrr Grrr!

    May 10, 2009

    • One of the unexpected pleasures of being an editor at Red Room has been enjoying the sweet profile photos some authors and members put up of themselves posed with a special animal. Whether it’s a beloved companion or a brief acquaintance, this a community that loves its furred, feathered, or scaled friends, and loves writing about them. (Note: This page will remain featured on Red Room’s ...

But it was Tuesday morning ...

    • Red Room is a community that already spans the globe, and one day we'll have members from every country sharing wonderful content in every language. Of course, we got our start in San Francisco, so it will surprise no one that we have a special place in our hearts for the magnificent literary community that makes the Bay Area and Northern California such a great place to be a reader, a writer, ...
  • Now IS A Time of Riches

    March 12, 2009

    • A couple of days ago, as I was quietly working away to make this the best online community in creation, my phone beeped. Text message! While I try to keep texting to a minimum while working away to make this the best online community in creation, I decided to take a look.It was The Housemate. He's generally fairly laconic with the texts, unlike me. I like to get the most out of my 160-character ...

  • It is a great name

I'm not surprised that people think they're hearing something other than "Abe." It always sounds so distinguished to me when you introduce yourself as "Abraham" or when Ivory does. Huntington Sharp,

  • Wouldn't that be...

"...ignorami"? I'm not surprised that "media" has become disfavored. I think for most people the word has come to mean the news-entertainment complex that rules so much of our imaginations.
  • That's a good point

As a lifelong Californian, it's hard for me to see the initials as anything other than "San Francisco." Thanks for your comment, Miriam! Huntington Sharp, Red Room
