A fourth day, and 15,006 words! I'm pretty happy with my progress. My novel is doing and coming along okay, I'm happy with the way my MC is working her book so far, her friends are cheesy and the kind that we all have, so its okay. I think that writing this novel has given me the push my writing needed. I couldn't have started it without Nano, because I kept pushing it off and going on the bigger and better things (well, what I thought were bigger and better) And then, I was worried that the YA fantasy field was too full. What with all the scrubby writing works that hit the shelves after Harry Potter.
Which brings me to another point, this past weekend I went to BAM or, Books A Million. I'm sure everyone is aware of the popularity of the Twilight series by S. Myers. And so there in the middle of the aisle was a table donated to boxed sets of Twilight and single titles in that series...but surrounding them were innumerable books that were very similar to the Twilight series...I mean even the book art and book covers looked very close to those of S. Myers. And then people wonder about possible plagarism cases. Of course that is on another soap box all its own, so I won't go into it here. The reason I added this piece to this blog post is this:
I hope that this book I'm writing during Nano will be one of those few that will become one of those that will spur off similar titles in a way, but I sort of don't want it too. I guess if it is meant to happen then it will, all I have to focus on right now is writing a 'da*n good novel.'
Thanks for reading!
