Short Story

THE LOST DOG AND THE FORGOTTEN GIRL
It was a cold snowy winter night when my parents came inside and announced that our dachound, Susha, had disappeared. “It is your fault, Heather,” they shouted,” you let her out and now she is lost. You go find her”!!
So I put on my boots and coat and trudged out into the swirling storm. We lived...

ROLLER COASTERS AND CONVEYER BELTS
There are people
Who go through life
With flat affect
Moving through their days
Like a conveyer belt
Content with days spent working
At jobs they only do for money
To support their families
Then come home and flop
In front of the tv after dinner,
mesmorized by false lives
that are either humorous or tragic
to escape the...

one day you crept
so subtly into my life
I didnt know the magic
that would ensue
a picture of a man
looking out over the sea
pensive,mystical.
"you were in my dream" he said,
we walked down a wooded path
and I turned to you and kissed you.
And later I would discover
That we had lived many lifetimes b efore
And love bloomed quickly.
This time,no conjured up...

TANTALUS, TAKE MY HEART
Tantalus, my Tantalus, tortured by your perceived evil deeds
Looking up longingly at the grapes that hang before you
Just out of reach
As the water drains from around your immersed body,
Leaving you dry and wanting
I ,Persephone can see your pain,
While I hide behind the pillars, dressed in white,
Knowing that your bonds are...

Each day I wonder
what is he doing today?
Is he,right now, sitting at his laptop
Creating another poem?
Or writing a friend,
Or calling his son?
Is he having a cup of coffee, maybe with his best friend
Before going to work at the printing press?
Or is he going to build a deck today for a friend,
Or make a piece of furniture from scraps of wood?
Is he cutting up...

UNDER THE ICE
Sometimes
When I revisit the pain
And sit there for awhile
I feel stuck there
As if under the ice
Head pushing at its coldness
Franticly trying to breathe
And wonder if I can
Break it with my head
Banging against it
In vain
Sometimes,
I think I will break open my head
Sometimes
I think I will...

THE THUNDERSTORM
Suddenly,
The black clouds sweep in
Swiftly ,as distant claps of thunder are heard
Dogs begin to bark
My kitties hide under the bed
I hear fire engines
The thunder is getting louder
And now the rain
With its gentle sound
That I always love
Gets louder
As it becomes more intense
Thunder rumbles in...

I'm done,he said,
I cannot muster up the energy
anymore.
To respond to your emails in a complicated way,
I need
to take care of my real time things
I'm through wasting time with you
You cant accept my boundaries
(I cant understand them)
When,logically,the next step
should have been to meet
Oh,I know all the reasons why we should not
I know I am not free
And you...
