As I sit here in my warm house watching the snow fall ONCE AGAIN,I am thinking about people who are losing their jobs and about the health care summit today. And I am wondering what is it going to take before the Republicans wake up and see that people are dying due to lack of insurance due to loss of a job? This has become personal for me,as I have a friend who is about to lose his job,and he has a preexisting condition that is very serious. While my husband and I are safe and warm, and I got my severe sciatica treated today,BECAUSE I HAD INSURANCE,others are not so lucky. And I see our president, trying to melt the stone cold hearts of insurance companies and Big Business with his gentle and empathetic approach, and I wonder,How can they sleep at night? Is their greed so blinding that they cannot see little kids dying, people fleeing to other countries to get needed surgery, and in doing so,taking risks?
I cannot understand this mindset at all.It is the same "Imee" mindset that sees people as a stastistic,a group of "them"completely removed from their suffereing, while they add another car or boat to their collection,or maybe another house, probably having servants who are these very people who are sufferring?
This makes me sick to think that our country has come to this. The values we were founded on are all turned upside down. There is overpopulation, drastic climate change, the gap between rich and poor ever widening, the focus on self to the point of ignoring all others. And God,I know,is very unhappy.
God is somehow in the midst of this. And I ask that all who believe offer up their prayers to Jesus,Buddha, whomeveer and start working for peace in a small place in their own world. If each of us does this it will spread, like a ripple in a pool, until the powerful will be swallowed up,if not in this life, then in another one. And I hope they come back as homeless!
And I thank God for my blessings,as I try to alleviate the sufferings of all others who cross my path.
