Ok, I have been putting this subject off, redroom, because I had so many embarassing moments in junior and high school that I'd just as soon forget,so I had to pick a humorous one. I was one of those people who was always the last one to get the humor of my antics, being in a dreamworld most of the time.
Sorry, folks, there is no photo,And thank God for that. In a moment you will understand why...
It was May of 1963 and 17 seniors from STevens School in Chestnut Hill,Pa were on their class trip to Washington,DC. It was an all girls school, and we had the whole floor of the hotel(I forget the name, think it was Mayflower)
One of our classmates had somehow managed to smuggle in a small bottle of gin in her suitcase, but once being successful in her smuggling act abdicated her stash to three willing girls,of which was I. BArb,Cindy and I all shareed a 3 girl room, and as the evening wore on we enjoyed our gin with fizzies dropped in the paper cup(only folks of the early sixties will remember these fruit flavored alka seltzer like tablets.) Having no other "mixer" available!
The three of us got uproariously drunk, trying to stand on chairs to get bubbles off our eyelids, and various other mindless activities. Finally,I decided to take my talent in tumbling out into the hall(we were all in our nightgowns with NO underwear underneath by this time) and I proceeded to do a running summersault in perfect foprm, only to roll up on to the bellboy's(who had just emerged from the elevator) feet!!Amid the laughter of all my classmates the bellboy lisped "there's entirely too much noise on thith floor".
More laughter,as I looked up into his face with a sheepish grin(I was blind,my contacts were out),and only then fully realized the indelicate exposure involved!
I crawled back to our room, burning in bleary shame, and said to my friend Cindy"I'll have to go incognito and wear sunglasses" to which she replied,"Heather,he never saw your eyes"!!
