Written for Paramount Pictures and Skybox: Episode Summaries
A gentle, intriguing, sensitive alien, called simply, "the Traveller" comes aboard the Enterprise to assist in an engine test. Suddenly, something goes awry. The ship is somewhere where no human has ever been before - a seemingly magical part of the universe where, as the alien explains, time, space and thought converge.
The crew find themselves unable to deal with their own thoughts, which quickly become reality, and are helpless to return the ship to its former position. Having expended his energy during the engine test, the Traveller is weakened to the point of death, and cannot muster the force to return them to their own time/space.
"You were not meant to be here for centuries," the Traveller says, but he tries to explain that controlling one's thoughts, in this dimension, means to control one's reality.
Young Wesley Crusher, who has formed a bond with this mysterious being, aids in the traveller's recovery, by the sheer energy of his friendship. As the crew concentrate their thoughts on the Traveller's task, they enable their own return, through him.
Where No One Has Gone Before is a stunning, evocative episode, full of dreams and questions about the nature of humanity, the power of the mind, and the wonders of the future.
