I had the honour of introducing Dr. Wilton Dillon, Senior Scholar Emeritus of the Smithsonian Institution in the Carpe Articulum Literary Review. Dr. Dillon's calm, chivalrous and erudite recounting of the afternoon he hosted Elizabeth Taylor at the Smithsonian was such a gem that, although he sent it out just to friends, I asked his permission to send it on to the Editor in Chief, as I knew she was putting together the next issue as a tribute to the legendary actress. She felt as I did that it was highly worthy of publication, and so with his permission, it appeared in the that issue. She also asked that, since Wilton Dillon and I have been friends for twenty years this month, I introduce this kind and gentlemanly scholar in the magazine. I was very pleased to be able to profile this scholar and friend who has been a hallmark of civility to so many in an increasingly uncivil world, not only because of his many accomplishments and friendship, but because in his critical review of my first book, he called it 'A modern sequel to Plato's Dialogues', something I found so moving that I have always wanted to pay public tribute to him in return. This is a splendid issue and I was very pleased to be a small part of the Carpe Articulum legacy and the Smithsonian Institution once again.
