I'm in the process of making the final edits to my new novel Falstaff's Big Gamble. It combines the plots and characters of Shakespeare's Othello and Hamlet and is set in Gundarland (my fantasy world). I've thrown in Falstaff, the Bard's most popular character, and made a complete hash of everything. Hamlet is now a dwarf, Othello a dark elf while Falstaff is jolly human rogue.
As I like to think of it, I've updated Shakespeare for the 21st century reader.

re: taking on the Bard
I took a different spin to the Bard as part of a challenge I made to myself back in 1998. This composition is now part of Project Gutenberg's archived works. If Shakespeare had been less of a dramatistt and more of a spiritualist, then perhaps this fantastical meeting of natural elements would've occurred. Perhaps when Shakespeare met Gibran in conversation, the elements of Nature too had their own summit. Appended is my blog entry concerning my original composition' 'Naturae'.
