My collection, Staying In, won the North Carolina Writers' Network Chapbook Contest, selected by judge Marilyn Nelson. My second chapbook, The Challenge of Reciprocity, poems narrating the experience parenting a daughter with high-functioning autism, will be published by Finishing Line Press in 2009 and Turning Point will release, What It Takes, my first full length collection in 2010. I have published in the Greensboro Review, Blue Pitcher, Wilmington Review, The West Coast Poetry Journal, Paris Atlantic, Cold Mountain Review, Mothering Magazine, Kakalak, Iris and the Journal of the American Medical Association. My poems have been anthologized in Word and Witness: 200 Years of North Carolina Poetry, Edge of Our World and Gravity Pulls You In (forthcoming). North Carolina Poet Laureate, Kathryn Striplin Byer recently featured my work on the North Carolina Arts Council'sPoet of the Month Site.
