Grant gives an overview of the book:

Measles is a boy with Down`s syndrome who is a computer whiz. Owl is a fellow outcast, with a cleft lip and a hooked nose. The two boys find a unique friendship in their oddness and in a mutual desire to do away within illegal toxic dumpsite outside town. But there`s magic in the junkyard, as Owl discovers when he finds a village of living toys beneath the landfill site. Avalanche on the Prairie is an exceptionally magical adventure, in which the toys and Measles must help save Owl from the menacing midnight dumpsters — and help turn the town around.

"A thriller that got me asking questions. Switch is a promising debut, a well-conceived thriller with no loose ends. Reminiscent of Dean Koontz. I’ll be watching out for his next book."
