Blood spattered the ground the day I finally took his life,
Blood caked my body down to my toes, trickling down my face,
Blood took away the last vestiges of innocence I’d retained after all he’d done.
Life ceased to mean anything the day you sent me to him, to my doom.
Life revolved around pain and fear and the need to protect the others.

To this day, I trace the scar lovingly,
Remembering days gone by when enemies
Laughed and loved the hands that carry
