Our Time

Well, I still wouldn't call myself "exuberant." Between the exhaustion of the primary grind and the dawning realization that now is when the stakes get really high, my joy is subdued. But that Obama does have a way of lifting one's spirits with words. "This is our moment. This is our time." And maybe it is. This does feel like a time we might be able to effect some real change in the way we do politics. Not just a change of parties or policies but a philosophical and generational change. An end to a cycle of strategic divisiveness, ideological posturing, cheap political symbolism, "gotcha" tactics, baby-boomer feuds, and lingering '60s hostilities. The beginning of a return to common sense and common welfare. We can do it if we want it enough.
