Here's the deal. I've been messing around with versions of digital publishing, just sort of kicking the tires and test-driving various platforms and delivery methods.
The current test involves the AMAZON KINDLE.
I have posted my story, RED/SHIFT, up for purchase in the Kindle store but I, myself, don't own a damned KINDLE. Hoping for one this XMAS (are you LISTENING, Santa? I've been EXTREMELY good this year).
If you're inclined, do check it out. It's only 99 cents and it's a stack of fun. And let me know how it looks, how it reads, all that. If this does what i think it does, I may just start publishing individual stories this way and bypass the whole slush pile thing altogether. It was deceptively easy so I'm a bit nervous.
There's also a free software for PC users to emultate KINDLE on their laptops for those who, like me, don't yet have a Kindle but who, unlike me, also don't have a MAC.
And, as a point of advertisement/inducement, this story was a finalist in WRITERS OF THE FUTURE 22. So it's not going to suck.
