Gayle Hansen's Biography

Gayle Hansen is a self-described "Old Hippie Biker in Recovery"  She's not fooling anyone by writing this profile in the 3rd person, but she likes the sound of it, although I find it difficult to sustain,  see?

Gayle is also a non-traditional student returned to school after 30 years...with a LOT of stuff in between.

Gayle  transferred to "Big School" (John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA) Winter 2009, and is please to be back at Diablo Valley College taking Susan Browne's  Poetry Writing class for the 2nd time around.   All of the poems published here on this site were written as assignments for that class...if any are "good" (whatever THAT means) then I give the bulk of the credit to Professor Browne; if not, then I take all responsibility myself...

And, for the record: for some reason the Redroom Profile program INSISTS on listing my birthday incorrectly, even though I've tried to correct it numerous times...every time I log in Redroom has my birthday one day earlier, which makes me older than I really am (which is old enough, thank you very much).  Now, if it was making me younger by the day, I probably wouldn't mind at all.  However, in the interest of acccuracy, my birhday is, in fact, June 5, 1946, just in case anyone wants to wish me (or even give me) something wonderful on that day...

Gayle (oh, there I go, slipping back into the 3rd person again)  has had exactly one poem published to date, in Volume IV of Women Talking/Women Listening , but, again thanks to Susan Browne, she's feeling gutsy and continues to write every day in the hope that one day...
