He (play)wrights again . . .
Syfy PR maven Gary Morgenstein, a dramaturge of some note, has penned “Right on Target,” his newest play, which will premiere in August at the New York International Fringe Festival.
The play, which Gary dubs “a bipartisan romantic comedy,” revolves around a conservative African-American (Robert McKay) — who claims he was fired from PBS for his political views — and his liberal Jewish wife (Maggie Wagner). Co-stars include Jane Dashow (wife of Q104’s Ken Dashow), Janet S. Kim, Rand Guerrero and Tom Lacey.
“Right on Target” will be directed by Noemi de lat Puente; Wagner, by the way, is the niece of Hollywood director Mark Rydell (“On Golden Pond”).
Gary’s past plays include “A Tomato Can’t Grow in the Bronx,” “Ponzi Man” and “Mad Mel and the Marradians.”
“Right on Target” will be executive-produced by Mara Lesemann, with Carlo Fiorletta serving as assistant director/casting director.
