Gail Silver, is the founder of Philadelphia's Yoga Child, where she teaches yoga and mindfulness classes for adults and children as well as birth preparation programs for expectant parents. She also develops curriculum for Yoga Child's city wide school based yoga program, and is the primary teacher of Yoga Child's Teacher Training programs. A former Child advocate attorney, Gail turned to yoga for replenishment and strength and later became inspired to share the teachings with children through the development of Yoga Child and now through the telling of stories. Gail enjoys teaching students to integrate the practices of mindfulness and yoga both on and off of the mat. She believes that practicing yoga and life in this way can help us experience life's challenges with greater ease while enabling us to more easily access the compassion that lies within. Gail is the author of Children's book, Anh's Anger, and recipient of a 2007 Parents Choice Foundation for her CD, A Peaceful Place Inside. Most importantly, Gail is blessed with the love and support of her husband, Michael, and her three children.
The wise and gentle mindfulness teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh serves as a tremendous inspiration for for the development of the themes of my stories. However, it is the quiet and contemplative observation of my three young children mixed with reflections of my own childhood that provide the subject matter for my stories. I find that I am continually influenced and excited by the idea of recognizing the emotional and moral dilemmas that children face and am then challenged to find a way to create a humorous story to move them through their dilemma while teaching the reader a lesson in mindfulness. With this as my intention, almost everyone and everything around me serves as influence and inspiration.
