Redroom seems like the right place to praise The Way, a movie my husband and I watched last night, due to the suggestion of a friend who will soon be embarking on the “Way of St. James,” also called El Camino de Santiago. Assuming that everyone here is a thoughtful person—how can you write without being so—this movie will stir all sorts of thoughts. And it's so well done. During the final score, my husband said, "You can't say anything negative about this movie," which is his way of saying something very good about it. As an aside, one of the characters has writer’s block until the main character, played fantastically by Martin Sheen, makes an impact. Be prepared for a sad start, but this movie is not a tearjerker. It is does not play with your emotions just for the sake of doing so, not at all. It is the telling of a journey that is both an individual and shared experience. It is also beautiful, literally, as you see the European landscape and sites along the Way. Enjoy.
