Dora, Dora, Dora the explorer. Super cool explora-Dora! Yup, I got the words stuck in my head. She is my inspiration of how to write an action thriller in 3 step installments. Seriously, 3 step rule. As strange as that sounds it makes sense.
Dora has a problem. She needs to solve it. She relies on a map and a sidekick (Boots), who poses questions that she needs to figure out. She's got a cool backpack that has all the equiptment she needs (Mochila) Her quest leads her to 3 places that are fraught with peril and she needs to overcome them, using her ingenuity and objects found around her or in her backpack. She goes from one place to the next and at the end is her goal. The object she desires is always just out of reach and she has to use all the knowledge and clues she learned along the way to get it. When she does, the villian (Swiper the fox) is right on her tail causing her all sorts of grief. He wants the object, but like all villians he goofs up and she is able to get back her prize. She is victorious! She is the ultimate heroine.
Next time you read an action thriller, tell me if Bourne, Indiana Jones or Lara Croft is any different than Dora.
