G.K. Wuori's Biography

Member Info

Sycamore, Illinois
Apr 2008

I have been writing now for some fifteen years with most of that full-time, although I'm still - to borrow a phrase from a popular movie - a million bucks short of being a millionaire.  I'm not attached to any college or university and I don't have an MFA in creative writing.  I do, however, on occasion teach small workshops for writers similarly uncredentialed.  I've written novels, short stories, poetry, and essays.  I publish a monthly column on my website and also maintain a blog.  Recently, I tried my hand at writing plays and was pleased when my first attempt at a one-act play received a Third Place in a drama competition sponsored by a major literary journal (Arts & Letters).  I was also recently invited to join the faculty of the Second Annual Conference for Writers sponsored by The Gettysburg Review.  Occasionally I am asked what I do in my spare time, if I have hobbies or other interests, to which the answer is always the same:  I'm a writer.  I have no spare time.
