Stuff as art? Your stuff as your life? After reading about collage artist Mac Premo's exhibition of 457 items in a dumpster, billed as "a portrait of a life," I got to thinking: Premo is 38. My husband Bud is 82. Premo thinks he's got stuff? Bud has REALLY got stuff. Ancient typewriters. 1930s toys. A few thousand books. T-shirts from 200+ races. Art. A neon Bud on Tap sign.
(When we married nearly 20 years ago, in fact, I only asked for one pre-nup: I die first. So I don't have to deal with the Stuff.)
The temptation to turn it all into a portrait of my fine final husband was too much. And now, with a little -- I should say a lot of -- help from the folks at Red Room, who know stuff (like how to put your stuff on Huff/ingtonPost -- Bud has been outed as the hopeless accumulator he is.
