Inside Writing: Gumball Machine
My latest outtake over at the Meet and Greet is called Gumballs. It was inspired by a picture posted at Easystreet Prompts, of a gumball machine.
Originally, when I envisioned Trevor standing in front of this machine, I knew it was going to be a rare moment of solidarity when he and Eric found some harmony in their relationship. Maybe I should say that these moments are only rare in Trevor's public perception. Deep down, he knows that he and Eric get along quite well, thankyouverymuch.
In my original thinking, Eric handed Trevor the other three quarters that the bass player would need to get one gumball out of each machine. Breaking from his usual prickly surliness, Trevor was grateful.
I like how the outtake turned out once I sat down and wrote it. I like that Eric shows more than compassion; I'm still, after all these years, getting to know Eric better. I'm more than glad to see he's got this mischevious side to him. Hopefully, we'll see more of it.
