"Encaustic / Ekphrastic" by Bud Caywood With Selected Ekphrastic Writings by Regional Authors

The Bethlehem Branch Library's Exhibiting Artist Series will feature the encaustic works of award-winning Bethlehem artist, writer and furniture designer Bud Caywood. The exhibition titled "Encaustic / Ekphrastic: "A Waxing Poetic" will run from October 6th thru November 24th with an Opening Reception on Thursday October 6thth from 5:30-7:00PM. The artist will speak about his work at 6:00 PM. The exhibition will feature all new art in Caywood's first solo exhibition since 2001. Paintings in encaustic techniques will include mixed mediums in acrylic, plaster, hand-made papers, fibers, photographs and natural materials in all disciplines. Many of the works will feature ekphrastic writings by regional authors. His work has won numerous awards including work as judged by Juan Logan, Toni Carlton, Jim Kellough, Vandorn Hinnant and James H. Sanders. Caywood's solo exhibitions have included galleries in many counties including Wilkes, Caldwell, Davidson, Watauga, as well as Asheville, Winston-Salem, Salisbury, Lincolnton,Lexington, Boone, and Hickory Museum of Art. His wax and plaster workshops have included Charlotte Art League, Davidson County Arts Council, Wilkes County Arts Council as well as Full Circle Arts in Hickory. Caywood's art hangs in many private collections.
The Exhibiting Artist Series is an ongoing exhibition featuring local and regional artists sponsored by Bethlehem Friends of the Library and promoted by Bethlehem Community Development Association.
