where the writers are
Christians, Jews & Muslims: Do they Worship The Same God?

"Many things in heaven and on earth are called gods and lords, but none of them really are gods or lords. We have only one God, and he is the Father. He created everything, and we live for him.

Jesus Christ is our only Lord. Everything was made by him, and by him life was given to us. Not everyone knows these things. In fact, many people have grown up with the belief that idols have life in them..." (1 Corinthians 8:5-7) (Contemporary English Version)

There is only one true, living God.

"Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord." (Mark 12:29)

He has several names and titles; for the purpose of this discussion I will call Him by the name, Jehovah.

Muslims do not worship Jehovah, they worship Allah.

Jehovah and Allah are NOT the same persons - They cannot be!

Muslims claim that Allah authored the Koran through his prophet, Mohammed.

Christians claim that Jehovah authored the Bible through 40 different people including several prophets and priests.

So, the Koran can be considered the word of Allah and the Bible can be considered the word of Jehovah.

If Allah and Jehovah were the same persons their messages to the human race through these two books would have to agree.

Even if we use the argument that they modified that message to suit different people of different cultures and times, the fact is, if they both really were one and the same God these two books should contain the same basic truths and their messages to humanity for salvation would have to agree. At the very least they should agree on major points of doctrine. Shouldn't they?

They don't.

Here are just a few inconsistencies:

Jehovah says in the Bible, "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed..." (John 8:31) "And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch." (Acts 11:26)

The Bible says concerning Christians, "Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the spiritual blessings that Christ has brought us from heaven!" (Ephesians 1:3)

It says about Jews, "People of Judah and Israel... I will save you and make you a blessing... (Zechariah 1:13)

So, Jehovah says both Jews and Christians are under His blessings.

Allah says in the Koran, "The Christians, Jews and idol worshipers, who do not believe in Mohammed or the Qur'an, are going to burn forever in hell and are the worst of men (Chapter 98 Verse 6).

Clearly, Jehovah and Allah are NOT the same persons!

Allah says, "Is it any wonder then that The Koran commands all Muslims, "O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people," (5:51)

Allah does not guide Jews and Christians (the unjust people)

Jehovah says (To the Jews), "And the LORD shall guide thee continually..." (Isaiah 58:11)

Jehovah says (To the Christians), "When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth..." (John 16:13)

Clearly, Jehovah and Allah are NOT the same persons!

Allah says, "Those who believe that Allah has a son must be admonished since this is a monstrous blasphemy and falsehood (18:4-6). Allah has never begotten a son and there are no deities beside him (23:91).

Jehovah says, "When we told you about the power and the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not telling clever stories that someone had made up. But with our own eyes we saw his true greatness. God, our great and wonderful Father, truly honored him by saying, "This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him." We were there with Jesus on the holy mountain and heard this voice speak from heaven." (2 Peter 1:16-18)

Clearly, Jehovah and Allah are NOT the same persons!

Allah says, "People of the Bible should not exaggerate. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, his word he cast to Mary and a spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers and stop saying "three". Allah is only one. He is too transcendent and majestic to have a son." (4:171)

Jehovah says, "But God says about his Son, "You are God, and you will rule as King forever! Your royal power brings about justice." (Hebrews 1:8)

"For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one." (1 John 5:7)

Clearly, Jehovah and Allah are NOT the same persons!

I don't think I need to further illustrate this point, do you?

Well, maybe one more for good measure.

Allah says, "...Surely the unbelievers are your open enemy," (4.101) "...I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them," (8.12). O Prophet! Urge the believers to war; (8.65). Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth..." (9:29)

Jehovah says, "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you" (Matthew 5:44)

Clearly, Jehovah and Allah are NOT the same persons!

For a much fuller treatment of this topic see: "Understanding the War on Terrorism: A Legacy of Two Brothers" available at: www.kingdomlearning.info

The obvious truth is the Koran and the Bible clearly contradict each other on the major points of doctrine therefore cannot be inspired or authored by the same person.

The spirit entity that Muslims worship is NOT the God of the Bible and any spirit that is not God who receives worship as God is a spirit of Anti-Christ; either Satan himself or one of his Demons.

Holy angels of God do not receive worship from men.

"I knelt at the feet of the angel and began to worship him. But the angel said, "Don't do that! I am a servant, just like you and everyone else who tells about Jesus. Don't worship anyone but God." (Revelation 19:10)

Now, let's discuss Jews and Christians.

Jews worship the same God that Christians do but ignorantly so.

Unfortunately for my Jewish brethren they still worship Jehovah according to an outdated covenant and not according to the revealed truth of the new covenant which came by His last ordained Prophet sent to earth, Yeshua Ha'Mashiach, Jesus the Messiah.

The Jewish people have a mixed history of being God's own chosen nation destined to inherit the blessing of their father, Abraham who was called a friend of God; and at the same time being a rebellious and stiff-necked people who keep missing God's best for them.

Here's their story in a nutshell:

After Adam rebelled against God, God started looking for a man with whom He could enter into a covenant relationship and through whom He could bring the promised Messiah to be the Savior of all mankind.

Jehovah found such a man in Abraham and entered into covenant with him declaring that not only Abraham but the entire nation that would come from his loins would be blessed.

After God delivered Israel (Abraham's descendants) from slavery in Egypt He established another covenant or contract with them that basically said: I am the only true and living God, all other gods are idols and I insist that you worship only me according to the agreement I have made with you.

I have given you the prophet Moses as a mediator who will approach me on your behalf and through whom I will speak with you when I need to; obey him and we'll get along just fine.

In return for your obedience and faithfulness I will protect you from your enemies, provide sustenance for you and guide and direct you in all matters. (Paraphrased from Exodus 19:3-6)

No sooner did God make the covenant with Israel, in fact the "ink wasn't even dry on the paper," than they broke the covenant and started worshipping an idol and having a drunken orgy. (Exodus 32:1-9)

From that time Israel started experiencing a see-saw type relationship with God. They would rebel against God's leadership and go worshipping idol gods, get themselves in trouble with their enemies them repent and beg God's forgiveness, who would always be faithful to forgive and rescue them with the assurance they would behave themselves.

No such luck.

This went on for hundreds of years until God finally said, OK, that's enough!

You have broken this covenant once too many times, here's the new deal; I will make a new agreement (covenant) with you, governed by new laws and handled by a new Mediator.

"The LORD said: The time will surely come when I will make a new agreement with the people of Israel and Judah. It will be different from the agreement I made with their ancestors when I led them out of Egypt. Although I was their God, they broke that agreement." (Jeremiah 31:31-32)

You see, the problem with the nation of Israel is that they kept trying to please God based on external laws and ordinances never understanding that all He ever wanted was to be a Father to them and not necessarily a Master, but they never got over their slavery mentality from Egypt and kept trying to worship Jehovah with a completely wrong mindset - That's why they never achieved success.

Their basic approach to worship was wrong!

They needed to have a mental paradigm shift or in one word, they needed to "Repent!"

That's why He based the new covenant on completely new principles. No longer over 600 laws and regulations to follow but a very simple principle instead:

Love God with everything you have inside of you and love other human beings as much as you love yourself. If you do this you'll be obeying all the laws of the old covenant. (Paraphrased from Matthew 22:37-41)

And in order to help them do this God said:

"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you... I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them." (Ezekiel 36:26-27)

This is why Jesus said, "You must be born again." (John 3:7)

That's how you get the new heart and new spirit He promised through the prophet Ezekiel. You must be born again or have your spirit regenerated by Him.

This is the point my Jewish brothers and sisters are missing entirely. They acknowledge a new messiah and a new covenant is promised by God, they just deny that Jesus Christ is that Messiah and are still waiting for someone else to show up.

So, in the meantime they're still worshipping Jehovah under an archaic covenant with outdated rules and regulations which has absolutely no power in it to save them.

Sad but true.

So, the conclusion of the matter is that Muslims ignorantly worship a spirit being who is not the "True and Living God," Jews worship the Creator but ignorantly according to the laws and customs of an outdated agreement that has no power in it to save or keep them from destruction.

As a whole, Christians - And I use this term with caution because calling yourself a Christian doesn't necessarily make you one - Christians, which are people who are born again by the Spirit and the Word of God worship Jehovah, the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

Individually though, it might still be a different story because even though someone is born again it doesn't mean that they are sinlessly perfect. So, there are Christians who at times, due to ignorance, may also worship that which is not God.

It's in these times that the indwelling Holy Spirit will correct them and guide them into worship of the True and living God.

This is one of the benefits of being a born again Christian, even when you're in error you are under the constant guidance and protection of someone who knows all things and has all power. And is able to guide you into truth and keep you safe and secure from the beginning to the very end.
