Friday Five: Your family weekend guide
Type:
Press Coverage

You could stay at home this weekend and make a macramé plant hanger while the kids watch the Wiggles--or you could take the family to one of these fun events happening around the Bay Area.

3) Free admission: Asian Art Museum, San Francisco. Everyone gets into the museum for free and kids can learn all about kanji (Japanese characters) with Eve Kushner, author of Crazy for Kanji. Children will learn the stroke order of characters, train their brains with verbal logic quizzes, and play a game of sudoku, kanji-style. For $5, you can check out the "Lords of the Samurai" exhibit, offering an intimate look at the warrior class in feudal Japan. Sunday, August 2, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Visit asianart.org.
