Below is the latest e-mail from a reader of The Joy of Not Working.
It's a refreshing e-mail overall and shows that, indeed, prosperity is in the eyes of the beholder.
But I really like the fact that the reader also sleeps in until noon — just like me!
(And for those who don't know this, contrary to popular belief, people who stay up late and get up late are more creative and productive than people who keep regular hours - see Sleep In If You Want to Be a Better Writer and Want to Get Ahead - Sleep In)

My name is Paul, and I am from Toronto, Canada.
I have been retired since the age of 22 twenty years ago.
You see, I've got a mental illness which forces me out of competetive employment.
As I tried my hands at a dozen jobs, and I never seem to keep my jobs for more than two weeks.
It is truly a blessing in disguise, since I now live on $10,000 a year.
As I would not trade with people with more than a million dollars income per year, not even for one year.
I have a simple lifestyle, I get up at noon, and meditate for half an hour, and the rest of the day is for hobby and relaxation.
As I am taking a few courses at the local college, I plan to do my own business after I obtain my diploma.
Once again, it's truly wonderful to find someone who understands me, so to speak.
Thank you and keep up the good work.
