Belly of the Sun
Deep down in the belly of the sun
covered by aspirations of inspiration
lie burnt pieces of paper in a spiral
notebook
Carefully selected adjectives
and non-cliché similes
rise as the sun settles
and the full moon awakes
Carefully crafted stanzas
fall from the sky
during summer showers
covering pages with droplets of ink
Flooded with inspiration
during REM, four and five syllable words
consume conversations
of rabbits in Wonderland
Deep down in the belly of the sun,
I awake ready to write the words
inspired by the muse of my dreams
flowing steadily with every stroke of my pen
