At birth a mother takes her baby through rituals,
That the community holds sacred to its heart;
Then there are the coming of age rituals when the child comes to adulthood .
Marriage is a very important step in this journey
And is steeped in ritualistic thread from eastern to western tradition,
While death is the final ritual that takes us across the river.
In Trinidad and Tobago, we,as everybody else,have our rituals,
At festivals,like the Carnival,when the pulsating beat of the steelpan,
And the song of the calypso influence thousands of
Prancing masqueraders on Frederick Street and the Queen's Park Savannah,
But almost every evening I sit at Rituals as a ritual,
Drinking my coffee,thinking and writing my poetry!
