The democratic process is at work in America.Millions will vote for a new president in exactly two weeks.That is freedom of choice at work.I am bored;but not really.I might have been were it not for this history making election.I write this blog every day [except Sundays],and so absorbed have I become that my poetry writing is suffering.Well, not for long,as November 4 is even at the door.

What is going to work against the Republicans is a case of ''too much of the same thing'',or as they say in Paris''perdrix,toujours perdrix''. After 8 years of a Republican menu,the mere contemplation of the same unsavoury dish for a further 4 or 8 years becomes almost unbearable to most Americans.The three negative barometers by which many will measure the George Bush administration are [a] 9/11;[b] the Iraqi conflict and [c] the recent collapse on Wall Street.

9/11 still begs closure.Why didn't the spy agencies bring back salient information? Or, if they did,why didn't George Bush act on it?Historians,and indeed the general public will never forget the blank look upon the face of the commander-in-chief after he was told of the 9/11 happening[he was in a classroom at the time]Enough has been aired on the Iraq war but I might mention that Colin Powell[then Secretary of State]had said that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction[W.M.D] which turned out to be words of mass distortion[w.m.d]

Wall Street.I have already covered Wall Street in previous blogs.

Colin Powell[and there will be others before Nov.4],is doing what he possibly can to distance himself from an Administration that he very well knows will not be absolved by the pen of history.Poor Condoleeza Rice! She does not possess the liberties of her ageing predecessor!
