Perhaps scientists at the European Center for Nuclear Research[CERN],may have been celebrating a bit prematurely the discovery of the so-called ''God particle'',the long-sought Higgs boson, which is supposed to help explain what gives matter size and shape.
Well, the truth be told,I cannot be too hard on these poor scientists, for in this modern era people are no longer too interested in scientists, philosophers or poets. These days the comings and goings of Hollywood's elite and pop stars like Beyonce,Rihanna and Justin Beiber are more news worthy items. So that the scientists celebrating with champagne and giving themselves standing ovations ,well,so what?
But then as scientists, they must be aware that what they are declaring is very serious stuff.Very serious indeed to warrant a couple serious questions. Now I do believe that they discovered something.Probably something very important that could lead to Nobel Prize accolades, yes. But regarding the ''God particle'',I don't think that any scientist worth his chlorine should make such claims unless he/she could demonstrate the experiments that were carried out that brought these specific results. We must hear about these experiments and these verified results. These discovered particles-what are their properties? How do they behave under specified, controlled conditions? Can we then say without a shadow of doubt then that this is the ''God particle''?
As I have already said, this discovery might be ground breaking, and these scientists might very well be sitting on the periphery of greatness, but, ladies and gentlemen we must be sober and not allow exhuberance and emotion to replace good science.Probably this'' God particle'' might very well be a ''God presence'' that might be outside the ambit of scientific practice.
