Honor Killings, in The National Arab American Times

Author Ellen Sheeley has published a new book called Reclaiming Honor in Jordan, in which she conducted a nationwide survey of public attitudes, opinions, and beliefs about these crimes. It is believed to be the first such empirical study of its kind and yielded some surprising findings that help in understanding the underlying thinking and how people in communities where these crimes take place view them morally, legally, and socially. Sheeley included an appendix at the back of the book in which she recorded comments and verbatims from the research participants, and people have told her this appendix has been very useful, very insightful, and the views expressed are not necessarily unique to Jordan situation.  (Available at Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Reclaiming-Honor-Jordan-National-%2522Honor%2522/dp/9957860704/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1205605018&sr=1-1)
