The Music of My Heart

So what’s in a song’s lyrics that drive people crazy over it? For every chapter of my life, there is a corresponding song attached to it – a theme song you’d rather say, the soundtrack of my life. A song that describes my predicament that time, the emotions, what feelings are locked deep inside that no exact words could ever convey.

Music has always been an everyday part of my life, be it sunny or rainy. As a natural-born music lover born to a music-loving family, melodies playing on the air can either make me feel elated, melancholic or hopeful.

Tons of ballads, alternative rock songs, RnB’s, new wave songs are among the repertoire included in my menu or play list. Some days when I feel like just being laid back and cozy on a relaxing weekend, I tune in to a radio station which airs classical music of Chopin and Mozart. Other days I feel like going back in time to my teenage years and what helps me reminisce my young yesteryears is by listening to songs of the new wave generation of REM, the Pet Shop Boys or Tears for Fears.

The ballads, songs of love, heartbreak songs or what they commonly call breakup songs are also part of the list. But one love song stands out from among these songs and that is Julia Fordham’s “Love Moves in Mysterious Ways”. I need not be in love for me to savor this music for everyday we can experience love in the most unexpected places and it’s not just the romantic kind of love. The melody of the piano, the lyrics is oh so perfect as well as the angelic voice of the singer. Other singers have their own versions of the song but then I prefer Julia’s rendition for every time I hear her sing it, I feel love overflowing in my heart!

Love really moves in mysterious ways. Expect the unexpected, braise yourself for either a joyful ride or a roller coaster-like experience. This song never fails to enthrall me whatever stage of my life I am in. This is the music of my heart!
