Thanks to all of you who entered the blog contest and congratulations to the winners who will be joining us tomorrow in Los Angeles. For those of you who will not be there, we will be following the event live on twitter @EileenKohan
This weekend is my favorite time on campus. Throughout the week event management folks have been raising tents and building stages in anticipation of one of the largest literary events in the country. Prospective students on tour with parents have been challenged to forge new pathways through campus. Students about to begin the final week of classes find themselves distracted by posters listing the amazing array of authors who will participate in the weekend events. Along every walkway, lamposts are decorated with the artwork of Bob Staake, the festival's official artist and former member of the USC Daily Trojan staff. You may have seen Bob's work as an illustrator in The New Yorker.
Target has the largest presence with their children's stage, bookstore and omnipresent bullseye logo. Independent bookstores will fill tents with books and author signing events. The famous LA food trucks will be here serving everything from lobster rolls to barbecue.
And for the 100 writers who will attend the inaugural USC writers conference, there is the added opportunity to interact with fellow authors and preview what is to come on Saturday and Sunday.
