Sometimes, insomnia can be a creative inspiration.
As I lay in bed, watching the shadows flicker on the ceilings and walls as I tried desperately to fall asleep about 2:00 AM, s tory idea came to me - a Lovecraft Cthulhu Mythos short story.
Now, I admit I've been reading the Lovecraft E-Zine, and Innsmouth Magazine, for a couple of weeks now. And I really, really want to submit something to them, something original but in the proper world, and get IN PRINT (even if only electronically).
So there's no doubt this urge, combined with rampant sleep deprivation, led to my story concept. It'll make a perfect short story and I should be able to bring it in at under 5000 words, the perfect size for the Lovecraft E-Zine folks.
Oh, I have no doubt that it'll get rejected - this will be my first hardcore attempt at producing something of this kind - but I intend on using it as inspiration to improve.
And if I get accepted? Chicken wings and beer!
I need something to start my rejection letter collection with, anyway.
