It's days like this where being an aspiring writer is a wonderful thing, as I can justify spending a pile of money on books by calling it "research" or "education".
Todays purchases: A Rayond Chandler two-for, "The Big Sleep/Farewell My Lovely", since my Mickey Spillane three-for didn't quite fulfill my urge for some serious hard-boiled detective fiction.
Also bought were "Lord of the Dawn", a book about Quetzalcoatl; "This History and culture of the Maya, Aztec, and Inca", and "This History and Culture of the Aztec" (more focused). These really ARE for research, though!
I've also been coughing up the legal tender for "Create a Character Clinic", Writing Active Settings Book 1", and "Writing a Killer Thriller". I try to continually improve my writing and since classes are difficult for me to schedule, it's either online courses or books.
I finally finished "The Busy Writer's Self-Editing Toolbox, which has already helped me resurrect an old novel-in-progress I had abandoned due to issues with how I was developing it - I know how to fix it now!
Thank heaven for Kindle format books. I used to own about 400 reference and technical books, and moving was an unholy disaster - now it's just grab my laptops and go. My back is VERY happy about it!
