Well, it was a long 3-day Easter weekend, and I did manage to get some writing in between catching up on Boring Domestic Tasks(tm). I also dove into research on Aztec and Mayan mythology and culture, for an upcoming fantasy Ive been toying with.
Their mythoology is pretty interesting, quite a pantheon of deities, many of whom you'd never really want to meet, much less have lording over you. In general, at least so far, a fairly bloodthirsty lot.. perfect for my needs.
Threshold pr0ceeds apace, the chapter outline is 90% done and I should be able to diveinto the meaty work of writing the silly thing next weekend. Having the outline definitely makes it easier for me to work, Ive gone back and found continuity issues and fixed them up front - saving me a painful process of fixing it in a later edit pass. I'm sure I'll make some mistakes but every one I fix now in a short outline is quicker than hacking possibly dozens of pages later on in a frantic attempt to write my way out of a problem!
My Kindle library now has about 40 books on various cutures, mythologies, and history.. a massive reseqrch library right at my fingertips. It's nice to be able to pop open a virtual reference book and search it without having to leave my laptop!
I also discovred the Lovecraft E-Zine and the Innsmouth E-Zine as well, I grabbed a few copies to see what the state of the art in weird fiction is. Some very good sories in those tomes, indeed, pretty inspiring.
Until later, take care!
