Edie Meidav's Biography
Member Info
Hello Red-Roomers! Here's my crib-sheet: LOLA, CALIFORNIA just came out in July. Before that, I wrote THE FAR FIELD: A NOVEL OF CEYLON (first) and CRAWL SPACE (second). This winter I spent two months in Cuba with my two daughters and mate; now I'm back as writer in residence at Bard College in upstate New York. Others' views: LOLA,CALIFORNIA has been called one of the most anticipated novels of 2011 (Booklist; WNYC). I'll be doing a small bit of book-flogging during the summer of 2011: http://us.macmillan.com/lolacalifornia has the most recent information, as does www.ediemeidav.com. You could follow me on Facebook (Lola,California is a group) or, jeez, also on Twitter at lolacalifornia.
First novel, The Far Field: A Novel of Ceylon, won the Kafka award for best fiction by an American woman, the Village Voice Writers on the Verge award, and was cited as a best book by multiple newspapers . Second novel received a Lannan Fellowship, the Bard Fiction Prize for writers under 40, and citations as an editors' pick by some of the same newspapers, including the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Times and elsewhere. Work has appeared in Conjunctions, The Kenyon Review, Ms., The Village Voice, The Kenyon Review, The Chattahoochee Review, among other sites.
