It's summer in America... and in a trapeze act that would leave Barnum & Bailey's finest in spasms of envy, we've stitched together tonight's "The Book, With Earl Merkel" barely in time to get it on the air!
See, the beach has been quite sunny this week, and rather than work on Da Show, the entire staff has been enjoying-- uh, you probably don't need to know the details.
But here's tonight's lineup for "The Book":
-- an audio essay from the acid-dipped pen of writer Ben Gardner, the man behind the bitterly popular Internet sensation, “Ben’s Bitter Blog.”
-- a contribution from Michael W. Sherer, the Thriller Award-nominated, best-selling author of Night Blind, that will explode the myth of writing about what you know
-- a “classic conversation” with author & journalist Julia Keller –formerly the cultural critic for the Chicago Tribune and author of “Mr. Gatling's Terrible Marvel: The Gun That Changed Everything and the Misunderstood Genius Who Invented It ." Here’s a hint: there’s far more about American history than there is about machine guns in Julia’s book.
-- As usual, we start the show with a short story from Rich Le Cropane, a Contributing Editor here on “The Book.” It’s tonight’s edition of Rich’s regular feature–“Over the Transom, By Rich Le Cropane”— and it is titled “Is It Just Me?”
Tonight (Sunday, July 21) at 9 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Central, etc.: "The Book, With Earl Merkel," on Authors On The Air Global Radio Network.
