The Journey

I’m coming upon the completion of my first non-fiction book entitled The Nappy-nest of My Soul.   It’s about the history of African American or better black men in America.  This is not your typical book of racial injustice and the redundant documentation of discrimination.  The book breaks down the cycles of pride that plague the inner-city and keeps men of color in economic, emotional and pharmaceutical enslavement.   I even delve into the realities of systematic genocide.   The creative non-fiction piece is illustrated with poetry that describes the depth of heart and riches of the human soul.  A soul that has endured hardship and struggle to discover the ever available nest of Love and gratefulness that money can’t buy.  I think to exploit this positive aspect of who I am and where I have come from will give you greater insight to the purpose of these blogs.  I’ve taken you through various historical studies, but now I will write more about the world outside my window.  Life as it pertains and directly affects me.  No matter how much dirt and injustice I uncover regarding the powers that be, I can still live a life of joy, peace and love through humility and thanksgiving.  This is a poem called Journey from the up and coming creative nonfiction work The Nappy-nest of My Soul.   It contains the passion of my beliefs and the pains of my people’s struggle.

The Journey

earn me

the value

the sustenance the road to substance is quick fast to cash

another man’s trash is another’s true value

a good education is a road paved from a good school

good character is the sweet song of sound rules

the tools to succeed…the power to proceed

exceed to gain these proceeds

save the seed from the greedy

journalistic journey; a man on the road to freedom

write the vision make it plain…speak it

the Lord is my shepherd…word is light

lamp to the feet blaze the right way

for his name; the same is YAHWEH

a fire at night and cloud by day

earn the living learn from the burning bush

cause Moses to glow…let my people go

Cush don’t burn your own bush

you’re lost if you’re exhausting smoke signals

The Great Exploitation Proliferation for next week (Chapter 24) will break down judgment.  From the judgment in relation to your personal decision making, to the legislation passed that governs your life.  There are decisions you make for yourself and then there are decisions made for you.  We will discover which decisions have the most control over your life.  You’d be surprised how much control you are entitled to.
