A Literary Evening with Award-Winning Authors Dorothy Allison and Karen Joy Fowler

Nov.26.2012

Join award-winning authors Dorothy Allison and Karen Joy Fowler for a reception and evening of literary conversation. The event is a fundraiser for Hedgebrook.

Hailed as “one of the finest writers of her generation” by the Boston Globe, Dorothy Allison's best-selling novel Bastard Out of Carolina was a finalist for the 1992 National Book Award, won the Ferro Grumley prize, an ALA Award for Lesbian and Gay Writing, and became an award-winning movie. Her novel, She Who, is forthcoming.

Described as “astonishing narrative voice” by the San Francisco Chronicle, Karen Joy Fowler is the author of six novels and three short story collections. The Jane Austen Book Club spent thirteen weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list and was a New York Times Notable Book. She is the co-founder of the James Tiptree, Jr. Award and the current president of the Clarion Foundation (also known as Clarion San Diego).

Light refreshments will be served and a no-host bar is available.

Admission $20. All proceeds go to Hedgebrook. Hedgebrook supports women writers from all over the world with residencies and retreats on Whidbey Island and programs to connect women's work with readers and audiences of all ages.
