I'm not sure how many of you remember the whole saga of Sherry Jones and her book, The Jewel of Medina. You might recall that her first publishing contract was canceled after her book about one of Mohammed's wives was called soft-core porn by a professor who was asked to do a blurb. Or maybe you recall that her second publisher was firebombed. Well, Sherry Jones ultimately triumphed over adversity and got published in the U.S. But she's never told the inside story about what really happened - until now, that is.
My interview with her on The Debriefer on Radio Litopia is now up: http://www.litopia.com/radio/the-truth-about-the-jewel-of-medina/ If you listen, you'll hear all about how her agent did a great job of protecting her when her contract was negotiated; the behind-the-scenes drama after the death threats started; who stood behind her (and who didn't); and how she stood tall and survived every writer's nightmare.
I hope you enjoy hearing her story as much as I did.
