I was completely surprised by this photo posted on my son's Facebook page.
Thought you'd enjoy seeing it. The date was August 9, 1987.
That's the whole family at our 40th wedding anniversary celebration.

It is tempting, but unwise, to underestimate the work of Dolores Cullen. Her direct style, her unaffected enthusiasm for the obscure reaches of Middle English, her openly celebratory approach to Chaucer as the poet who changed her life--this kind of thing is anathema to modern English literature scholars. . . . What a wonderful picture!
What a nice surprise,
What a nice surprise, Dolores. It must have brought back many wonderful memories.
Many thanks
The day was perfect. One daughter who lived in Texas wasn't able to be there--my husband and I thought. To our great amazement the money was scraped together to fly her and her 3 daughters to come for the celebration. What a surprise!
I have always had a kind of Brigadoon feeling about that park. I feel that if I return there everyone will be there and we can celebrate the day over again.
Deep sigh. Well, it's a precious fantasy.
