This regarding column about burning down of Writer's Workshop Admin Quonset Hut during antiwar/antidraft protests on campus in 1970 that closed down the U. of Iowa that spring. And I knew 'nussing' about it - however one grad recently said that since his archived fiction thesis went up in flames then - he has been eternally grateful! Many writers have a similar feeling about early work maybe - including perhaps John Irving who was writing his first novel in Vonnegut's class then ('66) - 'The 158 Pound Marriage' I think he was calling it (reference to his college wrestling career). dc ”
