Three women writers in Brooklyn!

Hossannah Asuncion put the Po' in Poet.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, DéLana R.A. Dameron is the author of How God Ends Us, a collection of poems chosen by Elizabeth Alexander for the 2008 South Carolina Poetry Book Prize (University of South Carolina Press, 2009). Her poems have appeared in The Ringing Ear: Black Poets Lean South, PoemMemoirStory, 42opus, storySouth, Pembroke Magazine and other journals and anthologies. She is the recipient of fellowships from Cave Canem and Soul Mountain, and is a member of the Carolina African American Writer's Collective. A longtime lover of the intersections of history and literature, she holds a B.A. in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Taha Ebrahimi is editor-in-chief of the magazine Elan: Rethink Muslim. She has an M.F.A. in Creative Nonfiction from the University of Pittsburgh, where she also taught undergrad writing for three years. Her award-winning writing has appeared in numerous magazines and literary journals and she has been a resident at the Hedgebrook and Millay Colonies, where she was on the jury in 2007. Her writing is forthcoming in the anthology Love and Pomegranates: New Voices Celebrating Iran.
