I wrote a best-selling guide called "The JOY of Outlet Shopping (no longer in print), but hey, I got on Oprah!, was a writer on "Never Pay Retail" (Rodale, may still be in print) and "Calming Crafts: New Crafts to Inspire Your Creatvity" (Bristol Publising, still in print). I'm also a journalist and have written for "USA Today," "USA Weekend," "Family Fun Magazine," "Wine-X," "Vegetarian Times," "The San Francisco Chronicle," "The Arizona Republic," and other publications. I also had a weekly advice column with my mother that was syndicated nationwide. I'm the founder and editor-in-chief of The Writing Mamas, a monthly salon where motherhood and writinghood finds a supportive neighborhood at the iconic book store, Book Passage in Marin County, Calif., where we have met for the last five years. We also have monthly speakers, annual Mama Monologues where we perform our blogs and essays in public and have well-known authors as guest Writing Mamas. All proceeds are donated to charity. Our insanely funny and deeply touching work can be read at http://www.writingmamas.com. I'm currently editing a book by The Writing Mamas called "The Mama Monologues: What We Think, Say and Wish We Could Say About Real Motherhood," and I'm writing a non-fiction book about my surreal, but all too real experiences as a patient in a research study called "On Trial: The Drama and Trauma of Being in a Clinical Medical Trial."
