Things are going bettter than I had expected. This is my second year signing up. The first year, I broke my thumb at the end of week one and could not continue. I did finish that novel, finally, in October of this year. I've put that book aside to concentrate of my NaNoWriMo novel for this year, but in December I plan to start the editing process.
I have been encouraged by the reactions to that novel by my two first readers, who've seen the story after the first edit and I can't wait to tackle the job of making it even better. I LOVE the editing process.
Which brings me to my 2008 NaNoWriMo novel. I am itching to edit as I go, which I normally do. Also, I have compromised in my researching to make sure I stay on track with my word count. Though today, I did a little research on bipolar disease, which one of the minor characters (who is dead before the story starts) had. I must have absorbed all the information about it, because I was spot on about details. I'm so happy I won't have to go back and change some of my plot!
The story is flowing along nicely. I had been too busy scrambling to get my other novel written to actually outline this novel, but I'm amazed at how the ideas that were floating around in my head have come together the way they have and how other great ideas keep coming up. I was afraid I'd run out of steam plot wise or find that I wasn't interested in the characters as I went along. But no, I'm really enjoying the creative process with this.
I'm ahead of the schedule with my word count, but because the novel needs to be longer than 50,000 words to submit it to the publisher that I have my eye on, I have to get at least 90,000 words.
So, my numbers look great on the bar, but really, I need to step it up.
