David Valdes Greenwood is the author of three books: Homo Domesticus: Notes from a Same Sex Marriage; A Little Fruitcake: A Childhood in Holidays (a Today Show Top-10 holiday books pick); and The Rhinestone Sisterhood. As a playwright, his work has been staged across the US and in the UK. A Huffington Post Parents blogger, he was columnist previously for AOL and Boston Globe Magazine.
Whether it's classic John McPhee, campy Erma Bombeck, or powerhouses newcomers like Said Sayrafiezadeh, I like nonfiction with a clear voice and point of view. Whether in memoir or narrative nonfiction, my sense of humor shines through, but with a light touch and precious little snark. I think it takes more control to let life be funny itself and not add sarcasm to get the laugh. My brand is smart uplift: I believe that being positive doesn't mean being sappy or shallow, and I intend to prove it.
